Incredible Safari! Professional booking, Big 5, Expert guide, and Top-Notch Service Throughout
We had an absolutely unforgettable safari experience from start to finish. I chose Shanjoy Tours and Safaris because of Rodah’s quick responses to my emails — she answered every question promptly and thoroughly, which gave me confidence right from the start. She worked hard to stay within our budget while still providing excellent advice on choosing a vehicle custom made for photographers, selecting accommodations that perfectly matched our needs, and recommending what to do and where to go to make the most of our time in Kenya. Her attention to detail and helpful suggestions made the entire planning process stress-free and enjoyable.
Once we arrived, our guide Patrick was the best guide we could have asked for. Professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly skilled at finding wildlife, he prioritized exactly what we wanted to see and worked tirelessly to make it happen. Patrick was timely in picking us up each day, and his sharp eye and expertise meant we saw the Big 5 and so much more. He was quick to get us to locations when other guides radioed about an incredible sighting, ensuring we never missed a moment.
From the first email to the last game drive, every detail was handled with care and excellence. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we owe it to the amazing team at Shanjoy Tours and Safaris who made it happen.

Shanjoy Tours and Safaris kept us safe!
If you are reading my review to decide if you should take an African safari or not, I am not going to waste your time describing how beautiful and majestic the wildlife, landscapes and people we saw were. TRUST ME, everyone and everything we observed on our trip was a 1000-times more amazing than what we ever expected!
The folks at Shanjoy Tours and Safaris kept us safe and went out of their way to accommodate us when things, beyond their control, didn't go as planned!
When we touched down in Nairobi, our bags didn't. We were grateful that our hosts of Shanjoy Tours waited over three hours for us to exit the airport after clearing the Passport/Visa check point and reporting our luggage lost to the one poor guy who was working the lost bags booth. Yes, we waited in two very long lines!
Before we got to our hotel around midnight, we were told we needed to leave Nairobi earlier than planned the following morning due to the Gen Z protests. Sleeping in wasn't an option.
When we arrived at our hotel, we were met by another Shanjoy host (I wish I knew all their names) who patiently helped me make arrangements for another Shanjoy guide to pick up our luggage at the airport the following day. Since we were starting our safari the next morning, there was no chance we could retrieve our luggage the following night at the airport.
After check in, we took much-needed showers, slept about four hours, ate breakfast, met our guide David in the lobby, and jumped into his Land Cruiser. And like that, off we went for an amazing journey! Before we entered the parks, David took us to a couple shopping malls outside the city so that we could buy new clothes and toiletries.
The parks we visited-- Masai Mara National Reserve, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Nakuru National Park, Amboseli National Park and Central Serengeti National Park-- were otherworldly! The wildlife was breathtaking! Our lodging and the food at all of the resorts we stayed were first rate! But most of all, we will never forget the grace and hospitality of the people of Kenya and Tanzania.
Our trip did end sooner than expected (only a few hours) when more Gen Z protests broke out throughout Kenya on our final day. Elijah, our experienced guide, planned a route that took us away from the blocked roads, fires and deadly clashes between the protesters and police. To be honest, we were concerned, but Elijah's composure was calming, especially when a smoky Nairobi silhouette appeared on the horizon, reminding us of images of 9/11.
My wife and I would certainly return to visit Nairobi and take another safari with Shanjoy! If you book your trip with them, be sure to read all the materials they send, buy the recommended travel insurance and secure your travel visas with plenty of time. Also pack extra clothes on your carry on!
Thank you Shanjoy Tours who went above and beyond for us; keeping us safe, returning our luggage to us under an acacia tree in the middle of a lion-filled African plain, and arranging an incredible trip that we will never forget!

Best experience ever
Everything was amazing!
From the start, Rodah was really helpful and gave us all the information needed.
First we stayed at zebra plains camp which was amazing. The food, staff and drinks were great.
Our tour guide in Kenya,- Patrick, knew a lot and he made sure we got the best pictures and to see all the animals that we wanted.
In Serengeti, we stayed at heritage Mara camp and osinon camp, both camps are in the park so the experience was awesome. We could hear the wild animals at night and both camps didn’t have fence which made the experience even better.
Finally we visited the crater and we stayed at farm of dreams lodge. The lodge was beautiful and it had all the facilities that you could imagine.
Our tour guide in Serengeti was Eric and he was really helpful and he knew a lot. Also he shared a little bit about the Tanzanian culture.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Shanjoy, the experience was amazing. Everyone was kind and attentive and the best thing is that we didn’t worry about anything, everything was covered.
Also, at the beginning we were going to stay two nights at osinon camp which is on the center of Serengeti, but Shanjoy asked us and we stayed one night in the north(heritage camp) so that we could see the great migration. It a was a change that made all of the difference. We were really grateful that they asked us and they considerate what we wanted to see.

Knowledgeable and responsible
Reliable company with really knowledgeable, friendly and helpful guides! It was our first safari in Kenya and Tanzania, and we had the best time. In Kenya, Rio was our driver and he was amazing. He was very clear in communicating daily itinerary with us, super knowledgeable about the animals, and always very helpful when we need any help. Super punctual at agreed times, and always making sure we get to see as many animals as possible. We collected the Big 5 just in the first 2 days of the tour! In Tanzania, Ely was our driver. He was energetic and thoughtful. He really vibed with my husband and made the trip really lighthearted and fun. With both drivers, we saw a lot of close up intimate moments of the animals. Their English was very good so there was nothing lost to translation. Apparently Rio even speaks Spanish and German! We had Arthurman as our driver for 2 hours when we were travelling to the Tanzanian border - he even gave us a short guide on the way! When we had any questions, Martin was always there to give an answer. Overall, we highly recommend shanjoy! The guides and drivers were more than amazing, and we can’t fault the company for anything!

Amazing!
Our trip to Kenya and Tanzania was even better than expected! Martin met us at the hotel and turned us over to our wonderful driver/guide, David, who took care of us all through Kenya, with Mackenzie taking over in Tanzania. Communication prior to the trip was great, making everything run so smooth on our end. I 10 out of 10 recommend!

Well organised, friendly and obliging tour company. An amazing trip.
We were looking for a tour company based in Kenya who provided a private tour with flexibility. Shanjoys communication (Beth) from the planning stage to and throughout the tour was spot on. We were met promptly at the airport and from then on we were never left waiting. Our Kenyan guide, Patrick, who said he was Patrick number 2, was definitely Number 1 in our books. From his friendly welcoming smile and greeting on day 1 we knew we were in safe hands. Patrick was always proactive and ensured we were made aware of additional optional activities such as cultural experiences and balloon rides. We had 1 night in lake Nakuru and 2 nights in the Masai Mara before we farewelled Patrick and met Ledgar, our Tanzanian guide who we also felt instantly connected with. Both guides had excellent knowledge of the animals and the surroundings as well as being well intuned with their vehicles. Our safety was always their priority. After 3 nights in the Serengeti, 1 at Ngorogoro crater rim and 1 night at Tarangire we returned to Kenya for 2 nights at Ambolselli. We were so thrilled to be met by our same Kenyan guide, Patrick who again ensured our last days in Kenya were relaxed and memorable. We were sad to farewell him at the airport and would highly recommend Shanjoy Tours for any Kenya / Tanzania tour.

very well organized and overall great service
This was our first Safari trip and we were a bit anxious before going not knowing what to expect but the trip turned out amazing and while we initially thought this is a once in a lifetime experience, we now feel that we have to do this again whether in the same country or explore others.
Accommodation choices were great and fit our needs perfectly. Our Guide Kim was more than amazing, knowledgeable, funny and overall very hospitable.
We enjoyed the trip greatly. The one thing I would've liked though was to get a heads up about what to expect in the Maasai Village we visited in Amoseli. In the beginning it was fine but as the visit progressed we felt a bit uncomfortable because we felt pressured into having to pay something as a "Donation" to the village. Had I known that this would happen, I honestly would've opted to skip it as we've already seen the Maasai dance in 2 of our accommodations and felt like we've been scammed.

Shanjoy Tours went beyond expectations to make our first safari better than our wildest dreams!
I spent a lot of time researching several tour companies, locations and details in order to make sure our vacation was exactly what we wanted it to be. Shanjoy Tours, and especially, Rodah, ensured our trip was perfect, despite hiccups that were beyond control. Additionally, they came in lowest priced for the quality of trip. Once I began to understand what a safari entailed, I knew we wanted to stay at a conservancy and Rodah set us up at Royal Mara (also excellent) in Mara North Conservancy. Rodah and Martin met us at the airport early in the morning after arriving two days late due to flight issues, took us to the store for a change of clothes, and they picked our luggage up late that evening once we realized the luggage didn't make it on our flight. Patrick, the owner, escorted us to our flight to the conservancy and made sure we were all squared away. I was able to contact Rodah any time I needed anything and/or we wanted to make changes to our plans while in Kenya, which happened a lot, and she was always pleasant and cheerful. Their recommendation of Mara North and Royal Mara was spot on, and they even contacted the property asking that they prioritize spotting cheetahs (my daughter's dream) and we saw one within an hour of arriving at the conservancy. It was important to me to use a Kenyan owned tour company both because the money then gets returned to Kenya and because I believe their knowledge exceeds those booking a vacation from outside the country and I am so glad we did. When we return to Kenya, I will 100% use Shanjoy Tours again to book our vacation! Thank you, Rodah, Martin, Patrick and team!
