Excellent service and all around amazing experience!
I had a great time with my guide Mr. Anderson, he paid attention to my needs, gave me interesting information about the country and culture, we bought a lot of delicious fruits on the way and had interesting conversations. Peter was always available and fast to respond to my enquiries, communication was easy and straight forward. Due to health issues I could only do half of the tour, but once I recovered I was able to finish the other half as well, during this process Peter was very understanding and helpful. The lodges booked for the tour were excellent with great service. The conditions were much better than I had experienced in other East African countries, and the experience with the gorillas, chimpanzees and rhinos makes Uganda my favourite place for safaris. I can definitely recommend this tour company and especially going on a safari with Mr. Anderson!

Efficient and organized
Buyaga tours office personnel were in touch with me and coordinated with me. The driver was Erik and he was very good. Everything went off very well, given the high degree of uncertainty there is around tracking and spotting Gorillas (uncertain movement of the animals, uncertain weather in the mountains, uncertain terrain to cross). Overall a great experience. I would say that not all the tourists in our group were in great physical shape, so some of them did struggle at the end. But Im sure everyone agrees that it was well worth the unique experience of seeing them in the wild.

The best guide/driver ever!
I booked a trip to Uganda with Buyaga Safaris. We started talking about the itinerary way back in October 2020, 5 month prior to the trip. Peter, the owner of the company was super helpful and patient while we managed to come up with an itinerary that was both feasible and appealing to me. Then we agreed to wait until Jan, since I knew that flights can change very easily during this crazy COVID times. In Jan, 2021 Peter helped me get my Uganda visa (well, I requested it electronically, but somehow it needed a bit of local nudging to get a response back) after I booked my flight, and he was also very flexible with the deposit, I paid only about 30% of the total price.
Once in Uganda, my driver was Jazz, how was amazing. Attentive, communicative and very conscientious. He made sure I had fun in Kibale NP, Queen Elizabeth NP and Bwindi NP, and that my COVID tests (needed for the KLM flights) were all in order. The way I could talk with him was almost like talking with any of my buddies at home - he was open, and interested in almost any topics. Great company!
All in all, I can easily recommend Buyaga, since they have really done a great job!

Not good experience
Honestly, the experience with Peter was very complicated and negative from the very beginning. Before arriving in Uganda, communication with him was very difficult. He either didn’t reply or wasn’t clear when he did.
We had agreed that payment could be made by card, but the night we arrived he told us it could only be paid in dollars. Not only cash, but the bills had to be from 2015 onward (something common in Uganda), but we didn’t know that. It was our first day, we arrived at night in a new country, I was with my wife, and he took us to withdraw money in a place with armed people and made us take out cash. It was a completely uncomfortable situation.
The next day we couldn’t withdraw all the money because of ATM limits (it was a large amount), and at 6 a.m. he was already messaging us to go withdraw more. We managed to pay part by transfer, but he charged an extra fee that had never been agreed.
Then he rented us a car that he knew was in bad condition (he had told me) but said it had been properly repaired. We went to Murchison National Park and the car broke down in the middle of the park with no signal. It started smoking.
We managed to contact him and his solution was for us to stay two days at a mechanic’s house in a small town in the middle of Uganda until it was fixed, which was completely unviable. We had to take a six-hour public transport ride across the country, which felt dangerous.
In the end he never refunded the money — he said the car wasn’t his and gave all sorts of excuses.
Later we did the gorilla tour with him. That part was overall okay, although the car also got stuck and we arrived late to all the hotels.
Honestly, I don’t recommend him. The only positive thing I can highlight is our guide, Apton. Very professional and the only thing worth rescuing from the trip.
Reply from Buyaga Safaris
Posted on Apr 9, 2026This review is based on false allegations intended to tarnish our name. You all have read through other reviews on how fast we respond to customers and it has always been our practice to reply and engage the customers in real time. It wasn't our company as he alleges. Instead the client had a clash with the car hire company. The car had issues and the car hire company failed on its obligations of rescuing them since they had got a mechanical issue during the trip. He was frustrated with the car hire company after failing to rescue or give him a refund. He decided to write such since he had requested us to recommend a car hire company for their private trip. We did our part professionally with the 5 days that he had booked with us and the trip went well. Regarding payment, he arrived in Uganda without making a full payment for his trip which is always a requirement. The only solution available was him to use ATM machine and we helped him to go to secure places to make withdrawal. We never charged any extra money. We always do our work professionally and we promise to always deliver to our customers as promised. Thanks

Amazing 12 days in Uganda with guide Simpson
To start of, Uganda is probably the most diverse countries of all we have visited. Every place is like from different planet so there is no place for boredom. Our trip was organised well, we wouldn’t change anything (maybe we would add some morę days). Most of the lodges were insane, I mean - we probably wouldn’t choose that good by ourselves. Considering the price of the package - I would consider it very good in terms of value for money. Our guide Simpson was carying, engaged and he knew other guides so knew where to go on safaris. As for the trip rate - let photos speak for themsleves.

Great trip
Peter organized a great tour although I booked it in the last moment. He was always available to answer my questions. Everyrhing was good - safari drives, accommodation, food, etc. Gorilla tracking was highlight of the trip.

A new world wonder every day
Uganda with Buyaga Safari trip exceeded all our expectations. I completely changed my idea about Africa. This country's astonishing beauty is amazing!!! And people are so nice!!
Our biggest surprise was that everybody speaks English.
Buyaga planed our journey so, that practically every day brought us great surprises. When I thought we saw it all, no way to surprise me anymore, I got more and more amazing things.
All our hotels and lounges were just fantastic!!! Food was excellent.
Erik is a grate guide! He really did his best.
He is a good driver, nice person and reliable guide. Also very punctual. Every single point of our agenda was fulfilled 100%.
To be short: Uganda is my favorite country for now.
My advise: bring your binoculars and a lot of cash in small dollar bills for tips.
These people are so nice and they are doing their job so well that you will want to reward them.

Absolutely great
I started planning my trip to Uganda 11 months before departure. I contacted several agencies on Safaribookings.com and Peter from Buyaga safaris responded almost immediately. I was a little worried at first because it was a smaller agency, but I was convinced by the speed of responses and the flexibility to adapt the program to my needs and interests. I followed Peter's recommendation and changed the planned date of my visit to Uganda and I was happy for Peter's notes and recommendations for individual sections of our trip. His advice was absolutely great because he himself used to work as a guide. For the trip itself, he provided us with a great guide Azariyah and a Toyota Landcruiser 4x4. Although July is the driest month, regular night rains made traveling somewhat complicated, especially in N.P. Murchison falls and N.P. Queen Elizabeth. 4x4 drive was a great advantage, sometimes even a necessity. Guide Azaryiyah was an amazing driver, he managed both difficult terrain and complicated traffic in cities. He was an invaluable helper for my photography and as a former UWA ranger he had a lot of experience in wildlife watching. Thank you Azaryiah for the leopards and lions, for his care throughout the trip and for his patience in waiting for the best shot. When I return to Uganda I will definitely choose Buyaga safaris again and I will be happy to have Azaryiah as my guide.

Amazing Tour & Safari Experience with Exceptional Staff (Especially Deneson)
The whole tour was amazing. We did a 5 day Entebbe to Kigali tour with safari, boat safari, Chimp trekking & Gorilla trekking, led by our guide, Deneson. From first getting in contact with Buyaga we dealt with Peter. Peter was brilliant! He always replied so quick to any questions and was so helpful & friendly. It was really easy to deal with him & made the experience even nicer. The tour itself was incredible, the main thing we wanted to do was the Gorilla trek which we had high expectations for and it absolutely lived up to it, we got to see a family including a silverback & a 3 month baby so close. The other safaris were also brilliant and made the whole trip unforgettable. Our guide Deneson made the trip! He was so friendly and thoughtful. You could really tell he cared about his job and made every effort to make sure we had the best time! He was also so personable, making sure we were ok and asking questions about us and taking an interest in our lives. After we told him it was our honeymoon he called ahead to each accommodation and got them to make up the rooms for us with congratulation messages. On the safari he was incredible at spotting & finding animals. He spotted a leopard in the trees and we also saw two lions before leaving. We've been on a few tours like this and Deneson was by far the best guide we've ever had!
