Another fantastic trip with Khalanga Safaris
5/5

Another great experience with Shoes and Khalanga Safaris. Probably not quite the experience we were expecting due to the unusually high rainfall earlier in the year; the evidence of which was still visible throughout the Park in May. This did mean that the vegetation was still quite lush and water was still plentiful. It also meant that many of the ‘off road’ tracks were closed. However, thanks to Shoes’ knowledge of the Park and great experience – he is extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of ‘his Kruger’- we still had the most amazing time. This year (this was our third trip) we extended our stay in each area again! Starting with 2 nights in Punda Maria – definitely not the swankiest of accommodations but worth it for the amazing variety of birdlife seen on the Game Drives. Sometimes overlooked in the search for the Big Five, the birds of the Kruger are simply beautiful – and if you go looking for the birds, guess what, you see the most spectacular animal sights along the way! We then went to Mopani for 3 nights, Olifants for 3 nights, Satara for 2 nights and finished in Skukuza for our final night and every single day/Drive gave a different experience delivering something new. From the courting Bataleur’s, Rhinoceros crossing directly in front of the vehicle, Wild Dogs in the road, Lions relaxing by the river to the African Harrier Hawk , carefully picking out its prey, and the Martial Eagle with its kill; it was fantastic. I really wanted to see the Yellow throated Longclaw –we did and what a beautiful bird! The African Paradise Flycatcher, Green Wood Hoopoe and the Pearl Spotted Owlet were amazing as were the Cheetah, Hyena, Hippo, Crocodile (for such large creatures they move incredibly stealthily and fast!) Jackal, Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Warthog (my favourite!) – the list of sightings is very long and we have some stunning pictures! We felt we saw everything, apart from the elusive Leopard and the Secretary Bird! However, we have seen the Leopard on 2 previous occasions so we weren’t too disappointed and the proximity to the Rhinos this year certainly compensated! The Secretary Bird keeps eluding us but we will find it! The organization and communication were superb; from the initial idea of what we wanted to do right through to leaving us at the pickup for the journey back to Jo’burg airport, Khalanga Safaris provided an excellent service. As I have said before, it is probably not hard to go to the Kruger and see some great sights but the experience offered by Khalanga Safaris is far more than this and we could not recommend it highly enough. We are now looking forward to journeying through the ‘autumn Kruger’ with Shoes in 2027.

We booked a day trip and were absolutely satisfied with the whole trip. Lots of animals sights and a nice and polite guide has guided our tour.
The trip was absolutely worth it and we definitely come back again.

An Unforgettable Kruger Safari – Big Five Before Lunch!
5/5

We booked the 4-Day Private Game Reserve & Kruger National Park Safari and had an outstanding experience from start to finish. Thamia was incredibly responsive and helpful from the moment I first requested a quote, answering all our questions and making the booking process seamless.

One of the things we appreciated most was that everything was organised for us from the moment we landed at Hoedspruit Airport. Thamia also helped tailor the itinerary to our interests, which made the experience feel much more personal. In addition to the safari activities, we enjoyed a fantastic day exploring the Panorama Route, which was a wonderful complement to the wildlife experience and allowed us to see another beautiful side of the region.

The absolute highlight of our trip was our day in Kruger National Park. Our guide, Shoes, was exceptional—knowledgeable, passionate, and clearly highly experienced. Thanks to his expertise, we managed to see all of the Big Five before lunchtime, which is truly remarkable and far from an ordinary safari experience.

We learned so much throughout the day and were continually impressed by Shoes' ability to spot wildlife and share fascinating insights about the animals and their behaviour. This was a trip we'll never forget, and we would highly recommend Khalanga Safaris to anyone looking for a well-organised, memorable, and authentic safari experience in South Africa.

What a find !!!
5/5

Our private vehicle day trip in Kruger Park was 10/10. Shoes spoke very good English and we were able to understand the valuable knowledge that he was providing. The game viewer is in excellent condition. We were thrilled with our sightings and he was able to deliver the Big 5 in one day, which is extremely difficult. We will be using him again.

Back again for second time !!
5/5

We were fortunate to be able to book "Shoes" for a second private vehicle Kruger day trip in a month with another lot of overseas guests.
It is with piece of mind knowing that the level of service and commitment is outstanding. Our friend was so impressed with Shoes communication and knowledge. Shoes has the ability to know how long to sit at each sighting to ensure all guests are kept happy, and to maximise the "Bush" experience. With this knowledge and patience and positioning of his vehicle resulted in us being able to see a lion hunt and kill impala. Shoes was very accommodating with our requests. From start to finish of the day we could not fault.

I know they can’t control the animals you see but we got Big 5 in one day and learnt so much . Shoes adapted each day to meet our families’ needs. He makes you feel v safe and is funny and engaging and I can’t wait to see him again . Could not fault . Thank goodness we found these guys. Oh and he’s a great cook ! Excellent braai dinner one night !

Trip of a lifetime
5/5

If you're thinking of booking Khalanga Safaris, look no further. We had an absolutely wonderful time with Shoes as our guide. Johanna was extremely responsive and wonderful with handling logistics and we felt in very capable hands through the entire process.
We saw the big 5 (and more!) within 24 hours of arriving and the experience blew our expectations out of the park. Having Shoes as a guide is a completely unique experience in itself. Not only has he studied- he was born and raised in Kruger and his love and knowledge for conservation has been passed down from generation to generation. He has a rich knowledge base about all things Kruger - the wildlife, tribes, plant life, ecosystem, culture. If you are a birder, Shoes will impress you with his ability to find and ID hundreds of birds. As a vet student and conservationist myself, I can say that I (and the other scientists in my group) were extremely impressed with Shoes' knowledge, passion, and connection to the park. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Shoes knows how to do a real safari!
5/5

A safari of 5 unforgettable days. We have seen and done so much. From the Blyde canyon to almost every point of the Kruger Park. The big five is not difficult to find with Khalanga safaris. Shoes always knows how to find the beautiful spots for the sunsets!

At the end of the day shoes cooked for us, we got traditional south african dishes and were delicious. Certainly the breakfast was very extensive.

In summary, if you want to do a safari without worrying about safety, food, Big 5 then Khalanga Safaris is the best option!
