Fantastic experience
5/5

I highly recommend this company if you're looking to go on a safari. We had a spectacular week. The organization was very easy, and they were always willing to answer any questions. Our driver-guide, Sam, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. He was also a very skilled driver. He always found the best spot for the photos.

If we ever return to Kenya, we won't hesitate to book with them again.

Kiboko

Booking a safari can be overwhelming. I started by filtering for small licensed Kenyan owned companies, then compared itineraries, favoriting ones that had good looking lodges/camps and roughly fit our idea. Kiboko tours came up again and again. I wrote them first for a quote among many others, and everything from that moment on was handled very professionally.

Gibson and the organisation were fantastic. He answered questions, was quick and timely, very professional, and fun. I often had questions or comments on weekends and I had to tell him don't answer me now, he was that prompt and thorough.

We had Sam as our guide and he was just exceptional in every way. His driving was excellent: confident, patient, in control, experienced, skillful. He was friendly and personable, funny, answered questions patiently, yet also gave us space and privacy as a family to enjoy this experience.

Sam's guiding was excellent. He stopped and allowed plenty of time to enjoy and process the first sighting of animals that three days later we might drive by without a word. He was super knowledgeable about the animals and birds, but also the environment, landscape, trees and always introduced this information in a timely way to give context to each place we visited.

He was super helpful with us learning about cultures and people and navigating those things that came up. He gave space for us to experience things ourselves too. He took on caretaking and responsibility for us in many ways which I appreciated (at a remote restroom he had checked it out for me before I even got out of the jeep).

We went to Amboseli, Lake Naivasha/Hell's Gate, Lake Nakuru (WAY underrated, go there!), and Maasai Mara. We were in the Mara in high season for the Great Migration and it gets crowded, many vehicles crowding sightings and his driving was safe, ethical, and with the animals comfort in mind, things I respect greatly. Their selection of lodges and camps was fantastic, (only minor issues were at a camp I specifically requested and Kiboko stepped in to handle our feedback to them).

This was simply one of the most amazing experiences of our life and everything was handled impeccably. They are professional, trustworthy, reliable--and friendly and seemed to really enjoy our enjoyment. We can't wait to go back to Kenya with them again.

Honeymoon to never forget!!
5/5

We had an amazing experience with Kiboko, we went away for our honeymoon.

From the start, they were engaging and very helpful throughout the whole booking process, giving me constant updates about where we were staying, our whole safari travel experience as well as additional excursions that were available.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by our driver, Chris, who was such a wholesome and wonderful individual. He knew lots about the locations we visited, had plenty of information to share regarding the animals we were seeing, why they weee acting in specific ways, what their regular life was like as well and informative about the cities and towns we were driving through. If you do book with Kiboko, I’d highly recommend a tour with Chris!!

Thank you for making our honeymoon a time to remember for years to come! If we ever do another safari, we know who to book with!

Unforgettable 8 Day Kenya trip with lots of animals, amazing guide and reliable tour operator
5/5

We booked our 8-day Private Safari with Kiboko a few weeks ahead of our trip, and it went very smoothly. Gibson communicated excellently, and we made some changes to the tour, and he was incredibly accommodating and answered all our questions.

Our safari guide Chris was the best! He is not only an exceptional guide but also a great driver and conversationalist. He can read the room perfectly and knows when his guests want to chat and when they want to just rest. Chris was always on time and was flexible when we wanted to adjust the schedule slightly. We particularly appreciated Chris's extensive knowledge about animals and Kenyan culture, giving us more insights and understanding of how life is in Kenya. We saw lots of animals thanks to him and would highly recommend Chris as a guide in a heartbeat.

On our last day, we had some more time than expected due to a flight delay, and Chris made sure we could spend the extra hours in Nairobi. We were thrilled with the coffee farm tour, and he recommended a great restaurant for dinner before dropping us off at the airport.

Our favorite place was Samburu. It's a bit further off but worth the drive because of the scenery and tranquility during game drives! We even spotted rare twin baby elephants and saw a massive herd of elephants passing along the river from our hotel balcony (Samburu Simba Lodge, a special gem with the kindest staff). Next to Masai Mara, we would further recommend checking out Ol Pejeta Conservancy, especially to support their Rhino conservation efforts. And if you want to see elephants very, very close (and if you are lucky, experience the thrill of seeing hyenas hunting), then Aberdare - The Ark is the place to go.

Knowledgable and friendly guides make for a memorable safari.
5/5

Going on safari was a lifelong goal for me and my wife, and after disciplined saving throughout COVID we saved enough to spend 11 days on safari in Kenya. I requested quotes from several safari operators. Fortunately, my choice was easy -- Kiboko Tours and Travel offered the most exciting itinerary at the best price.

Leading up to the safari Gibson provided great communication, helping sort through my bank's concerns about transferring a large amount of money to Kenya to someone I didn't personally know. Upon arrival we stayed in a hotel in Nairobi for a day to recover from jet lag, then met Gibson and tour guide + driver Johnson, who picked us up at the exact time and location we'd arranged.

Our safari took us to six location: Samburu, Aberdare, Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha, and Amboseli. Each location offered its own charms and special moments. If I were planning the trip again, I may choose to skip Lake Naivasha, as it was the one location where we didn't see anything that was completely unique from other stops. Samburu, our first stop, was my favorite location and one of the less visited parks.

We saw all of the major animals (lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, water buffalo, all three subspecies of giraffes, hippos, rhinos, flamingos, both species of zebras, oryx, gerenuk, wildebeest, and more). We also got lucky and saw several rare species: caracal, serval, bush babies, and genets. And, we were lucky enough to spot babies of many species, including two baby leopards playing with their mother, a fluffy baby giraffe, and a baby cheetah.

Throughout the tour Gibson clearly communicated each day's plan and Johnson drove skillfully and spotted many animals. My wife and I are avid birders and we were thrilled that Johnson was not only great at spotting well camouflaged species but knowledgeable about the many varieties of birds in Kenya, including some that are very hard to distinguish. For Johnson and Gibson have a passion for Kenya's wildlife that made our safari a wonderful experience.

Great Safari Experience!
5/5

We truly recommend Kiboko Tours for your Safari experience.

We went with my family of four on a safari in Kenya with Kiboko, for 8 days in August 2024. As a European it’s always exciting to book something in an unknown country. Kiboko really supported us in a great wat planning the journey. Already then they provided expertise, flexibility and gave trust in their organization and financial transactions. We had a warm welcome at the airport by Gibson (the owner) and our driver Samuël.

The safari was amazing. Samuël turned out to be very knowledgeable, great driver with an outstanding instinct on where to position the jeep so we could witness the wildlife in action from close range. Awesome. We will never forget this.

We went to several places like Amboseli, Lake Naivasha, cycling and beautiful gorge walk in Hell’ Gate, Nakuru National Park, Mali Saba Camp and finally Masai Mara National Reserve.

We saw the big 5 and have lots of stories to tell. Memoires were made. Thanks Kiboko for making this so enjoyable for us! If we go back we would certainly choose Kiboko again!

Very disappointed with our tour guide
1/5

This was our family's first time to an African country and we were so looking forward to our safari with Kiboko Tours and Travels. Sadly, we were very disappointed. Due to budget constraints, we did choose the budget option for our safari and for that reason we were not disappointed with the vehicle or the lodges. Both seemed like they had seen better days, but when you go budget, we know you don't get top of the line transportation or accommodation. However, what we were really disappointed with was our guide. I don't like to be critical of other people and know that it can be difficult being a tour guide, but during and after our safari, we wondered why our guide had chosen to be a tour guide and why you, as a safari company, had hired him for the position. He didn't seem to want to be a safari guide, as he spent more time on his phone (especially on the first day) than sharing with us his knowledge about the parks we’re in, animals we’re seeing and general information about what to expect on each tour. We learned more from the signs at the park and our own background research than we did from our guide. Our guide did not engage with us, ask us about ourselves and what we’d like to get out of our first experience here in your beautiful country. I would think it good practice for tour guides to let their guests to know what to expect each day, and ask them what they’d like to see (keeping in mind, of course, that nothing is guaranteed with a safari). I would expect a tour guide to think of themselves as an ambassador for their country, wanting to share with their guests their enthusiasm and knowledge about their country and what they are able to show their guests. Our guide was not like this at all. In fact, when we asked him questions about the parks we were visiting and wildlife we were seeing he often misinformed us as we found out later through our own online research. I would ask that Kiboko Tours and Travel either provide their guides with training or only hire guides that have been trained and qualified as tour guides. For this reason, I would not recommend this company for your safari.

We sincerely apologize.
Our greatest hope is that time will offer the chance to serve your family once again. Making sure that each one of our customers has the finest recollections of their trip to Kenya is our top concern. The most important lesson we have learned in all the years we have been in business is your dissatisfaction. We've examined, gained knowledge, and improved our planning. We thank you for the chance to serve you.

We had a great tour with them and highly recommend you if you want to have a tour in safari. We wanted our travel to be flexible in order to adjust for weather conditions and our time schedule. They organize and adjust really well in advance to travel and during too.
