Professional tour guide, rich travel programs, very reassuring
I participated in a tribal tour in southern Ethiopia through this travel agency. The tour guide took us to visit many tribes and introduced us to the living customs of the local tribes, and let us enter the places where the tribes live, have in-depth contact with them, and understand their culture, which is a very rare and profound experience.

Our tour was fantastic, a very good and unique experience in Danakil area. The Team was very well organized,. Tourguide, driver and Cook were really nice people and good and reliable experts! We liked their way of Communication and Teamwork, also together with local guides and helpers.

Passionate, kind, well-organized team that made our Danakil Tour safe & absolutely unforgettable!
I don’t even know where to start… Our 3-day trip to the Danakil Depression with Discover Simien Mountains was an absolutely unforgettable experience – not only because of the surreal landscapes but also thanks to the incredible people we got to meet and travel with.
We chose a private tour, and during our journey, we were joined by Bahran (guide), Addis (driver), and Habtu (cook) – each of them was such a kind, warm, and genuine person. If you’re planning a trip to Danakil or any other part of Ethiopia with Discover Simien Mountains, I truly recommend asking for Addis – he’s an amazing person and an excellent driver.
Our guide (Bahran) explained everything clearly and with great passion. We learned so much about Dallol, the salt lakes, and the volcanoes. The food was another highlight! Habtu somehow managed to cook fresh, tasty meals right in the middle of the desert. We always had enough water and soft drinks, and even got to enjoy some Ethiopian beer or wine while watching the sunset on the salt lake an unforgettable experience.
We also really appreciated the small but thoughtful details, like the portable shower provided during the tour – in such hot conditions, it was a true blessing!
What made this trip even more special was the planning: while most operators follow a similar route, the Discover Simien Mountains team made sure we could arrive early to the main sights and enjoy them in peace before other groups arrived. That sense of privacy and exclusivity was priceless.
We cannot recommend Discover Simien Mountains highly enough – if you’re planning a trip to Danakil or any other region in Ethiopia, this is the team you want to travel with. We felt safe, well taken care of, and genuinely welcomed throughout the journey. We left with the most beautiful memories the kind that stay with you long after the trip ends. It’s hard to put it all into words… you simply have to experience it yourself!

Excellent & Unforgettable
We just completed a 12 day Ultimative Ethiopian Wildlife Adventure with Discover Simien Tour and it was truly unforgettable from start to finish.
From the very first day, our guide Sahile impressed us with his broad and deep knowledge, calm professionalism and genuine passion for Ethiopia. He made everything feel safe, easygoing, and yet so enriching – whether explaining the geology of the Simien mountains, pointing out gelada monkeys, or helping us understand local customs.
Our driver Daniel, was equally fantastic; punctual, skilled, and navigating challenging terrain with ease, which even made long drives feel part of the adventure.
The scenery across the trip was breath taking, whereas Simien mountains was the absolute highlight with its dramatic cliffs and astonishing flora and fauna. We stayed in a mix of comfortable lodges and hotels and the logistics were handled smoothly; transport, park fees, food and guides – everything as promised.
Culturally, we visited traditional communities, explored the spiritual side of Ethiopian heritage, and felt welcomed everywhere. Sahile skilfully bridged us into these moments, making them feel authentic.
In short; 5 stars for the excellent guides, the authentic cultural immersion, the stunning landscapes and the very professional and warm service. We felt like we did not just visited Ethiopia but also experienced it.

Smooth and Exceptional Journey Through the North and South of Ethiopia
When I first was looking for reliable tour operator to help plan my trip in Ethiopia, I have my worries and doubt on whether any of the advertised companies on this Website are trustworthy and can do a good job. So it is with much caution that I engage Discover Simien Tour, and got in touch with Sahlie, the manager and guide for our trip. With much deposit money sent to him before we even begin our journey (we're a big group), the risk of getting duped is very much in my mind.
By the time we touch down in Addis Ababa, and meet up with Sahlie face to face, it was all good and the trip started out great. We were well taken care of every step of the way. Even when there's hiccups along the way (we had to modify our itinerary for a few days due to sudden cancellation of our domestic flight in Mekele), Sahlie made sure that the trip goes on with alternate activities, hotels and ensured we still have enjoyable and memorable moments.
In terms of communication, Sahlie may sometimes be a little slow in responding due to his busy work, but rest assured he delivers on what he promised, and much more. It has been a great collaboration with him, and he is willing to go the extra mile to make his clients achieve their needs, whether it's applying for drone permit, special access to photography etc.
I would highly recommend this company, Discover Simien Tour, and specifically Sahlie for his wonderful and professional, yet friendly and accommodating approach to helping us get the best out of our trip. And thanks to him, our tour of northern and southern parts of Ethiopia became an unforgettable journey of a lifetime.

Amazing Journey Through Omo Valley
I recently completed a several-day tour through the Omo Valley, visiting multiple tribes, and it was an experience I will never forget. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. Our guide, Sahlie, was truly the highlight of the trip. His knowledge about the tribes, history, and culture of the region was incredibly deep, and he shared it in such an engaging and insightful way. Beyond his expertise, Sahlie was also kind, patient, and always went the extra mile to make sure we had the best experience possible. His attentiveness and warm personality made the trip feel personal and truly special.
The hotels we stayed at were comfortable and well-kept, providing a great place to relax after a day of exploring. The food throughout the trip was also a highlight—delicious and varied, offering a true taste of local cuisine that perfectly complemented the adventure.
