Safari experience in mid-range package

We enjoyed Serengeti and Tarangire national parks a lot. Each of them has a different character. Tarangire is nicely shaped by the river. You don't need to drive long distances to see wild animals. Serengeti is impressive by the endless plains and classic safari experience. But it tends to be overcrowded at some places. Also you need to survive the dusty transfer from NCA to Serengeti on bumpy road (2 hours each way). Ngorongoro wildlife has left us behind our expectations but maybe we weren't lucky enough. The crater landscape is breathtaking. Be prepared on cold weather in the morning (below 10 degrees Celsius). Our driver Jackson has done a good job, especially when tracking the wildebeest migration. We were sharing the car with four other travellers which was fine and caused no limitations to us. The only concern was that they had different accommodations. It caused extra miles driven every morning and evening on transfers which was a little bit annoying. The accomodation
Read more in Serengeti Mawe tented camp was excellent and is well worth it. The communication with the tour operator was fluent and friendly. Online payment of reservation fee would be welcome instead of bank transfer which can't be insured. We can recommend Kili Slope especially for good value for money of our mid-range safari package.

Everything was very good, except the choice of our organizer (hello tanzania) who did not take care of us properly, and made us available old uncomfortable vehicles making safaris less enjoyable ...

Magnificent Nature and wildlife

The parks the animals the camps are amazing! We were so lucky and the weather was amazing! The most important point for Tanzania is the nature and the wild animals! But the most downsize thing are the street and beach hawkers all over areas where tourists are! They do not let people enjoy their vacation as they permanently asking for money and want to give them their services which are non existent. I was in Namibia and this was lasting hawkers there were 90% less there!

Very nice wild life and very African country

Tanzania is a truly beautiful country with breathtaking nature and wildlife. The safaris and landscapes can exceed all expectations – sometimes things turn out even better than you imagined. At the same time, traveling here means embracing a very authentic African experience.

It’s important to be prepared for some challenges along the way. Roads can be rough, and getting a flat tire every now and then is quite normal. Public toilets outside the national parks are often just simple holes in the ground – there’s never toilet paper, so bring your own. Even inside the parks, where “Western-style” toilets are provided, many are poorly maintained.

Another thing to keep in mind is pricing. As a tourist, you will often be asked to pay much more than the local rate. Whether you decide to negotiate or just accept the difference depends on your own comfort level. Ordering food can also be a lesson in patience: a simple lunch might easily take an hour before
Read more it arrives, but that’s just part of the local rhythm.

If you prefer to stay fully in the “tourist bubble,” you’ll be more shielded from these aspects. But if you step outside it, you’ll experience both the challenges and the charm of everyday life in Tanzania. Either way, the incredible wildlife and landscapes more than make up for the occasional inconvenience.

On our first visit to Tanzania me and my wife decided to spend a week or two working in an orphange. Such a rewarding experience, the people and kids all eager to learn and friendly unlike many in the UK!

We then moved on to a tented lodge in Arusha, gave a great feel of sights and sounds of the countryside. This prepared us for our main event climbing Mount Kilimanjaro (via the Mechame route). What a fantastic trip, hard work physically and mentally with beautiful scenery looking to Meru, each days scenery changed getting less and less dense of forest. We successfully completed our trek to the summit With Forsters Safari's on Boxing Day 2009! Unbelievable...

We returned to base and went back to our tented lodge for a few days to relax, then we took a few days safari around Manyara, Ngorongoro & Tarangire. Ngorongoro is a must, what a setting full of animals, like Jurrasic Park! We stayed in the Rhotia Valley afterwards which was lush and green, people
Read more working the fields with ox and their hands. We then visited Manyara which was a different type of reserve on the lakeside then moved on for a few days at Tarangire which was different again in the bush, true dirt tracks, river crossings in the 4x4 and loads of the smaller birds and animals too.

The hustle and bustle of the towns can feel intimidating to some though we enjoyed it, visit the Masai markets for local crafts. The country is much more relaxed and everyone stops to help if you if you need it. A really nice place to visit.

Amazing wildlife, but among crowds of people

Tanzania is a wonderful country to visit, I stayed over a month, and could see just a corner. Besides the well known parks in the north corridor, there´s the more tranquil parks in the south, some of them scarcely visited, and of course Zanzibar is a mandatory destination, and many more places worth your time if you are in the mood for some adventure. Unfortunately, wherever there´s a main tourist attraction, entry fees are extremely high. Outside the north corridor, distances are long and travel is slow. Public transportation leaves room for desire. Wildlife is just unbelievable. Accomodation ranges from very poor to extremely luxurious, you can stay by very cheaply (outside the parks) or enjoy an incredible confort in amazing locations, but in this cases -inside the national parks- prices are very high by any standart. BE careful when choosing your safari company.
